The Secret of Happiness

Everyone is frantically looking for Happiness all around, not knowing what it is, where it is and how to find it.  Recently an experiment was conducted which practically explained where exactly our Happiness lies.

Once a group of 50 people were attending a seminar on a specific subject.  Suddenly the speaker stopped and started giving each one a balloon. Each one was asked to write his/her name on it using a marker pen.  Then all the balloons were collected and put in another room.

After a while, these delegates were let in that room and were asked to find their own balloon on which they had written their own name.  They had to do this within 5 minutes.  Everyone was frantically searching for their name, colliding with each other, pushing around others and there was utter chaos.  After all the struggle they all went through, at the end of 5 minutes no one could find their own balloon.

Now the speaker asked them to randomly collect any balloon they could get hold of and give it to the person whose name was written on it. Like a magic, within minutes everyone had their own balloon.

The speaker with a smile on his face and critically looking at all the delegates said:  “My friends, as far as Happiness is concerned, this is exactly what is happening in our own lives.  Each one of us is frantically looking for his or her own Happiness all around, not knowing where it is.  The fact is -our Happiness lies in the Happiness of other people.  Give them their Happiness and you will get your own Happiness.  This is the eternal Law of Nature”.

And this is the purpose of human life.  Happiness doesn’t result from what we get, but from what we give.  Give freely to the world these gifts of love and compassion.  Do not concern yourself with how much you will receive in return, just know in your heart that it will be returned, sometimes many fold over.
